Do you want to know what people all over the world do with candles?

Did you know that kids from the Philippines, carry candles in colorful lanterns in parades?

Spanish families in Spain burn a candle above their door on Christmas Eve.

In Italy, candles shine in the windows of homes lighting the way for the Holy child.

Families in New Guinea use a board that symbolizes the Advent or coming of Jesus. For four Sundays before Christmas, a candle is lit and put in the board. On Christmas day a larger one is placed at the high end to represent his birth. An Advent wreath with four candles in it is placed in the window, on a table, or hung from the ceiling in many English, German and Americans homes. On each of the four Sundays, before Christmas one candle is lit until all are burning.

In homes one huge candle was often lit on Christmas Eve and if it went out before the end of Christmas day, bad luck would befall the home in the coming year! So watch out!!!

Physical  Education  Courses

These are my personal feelings and ideas about sports and activities at school and outside of school. One  of my favorite sports at school is playing soccer. One of my favorite activities at school is the Terry Fox Run. I don’t want anything to change I like the games we play and now we play more games so it’s really fun. I love playing sports like, touch football with my cousin, soccer with my friends, kickball, swimming,   handball etc. And at school I play soccer, handball, basketball , Cross-Country etc.  I love playing sports because you are exercising and it’s good for your health. It’s also fun because you learn more sports.

Sports: A privilege or a right?

I find that missing your class/chores for gym, is bad and good. I find that it’s good because at least you are exercising and that is good for your body. And I find  that it’s bad because you also have to learn new lessons so that you can get smart when you grow up.

Influences

Who influences me in sports are my friends, Josee and Amelie, and my family would be my sister, my mom and my dad. They have always encouraged  me into doing my best and ever give up!

Other:

Outdoor of school, (when I am not at school I play basketball, soccer, I go biking etc. At my camping I go biking a lot  and I play a lot of  volleyball too. And as activities, I go frog fishing, I go swimming, and I make sandcastles.

Hi, do you know what is happening to the Earth???   Well, if you don’t, let me tell you.  Do yo know that people all over the world are polluting our world and the world is dying.   If you want to help all of us, even you, it’s time to help our world.

Tips of how you can help:

Tip #1) RECYCLE ! ! ! (cans, paper, plastic etc)

Tip#2) Do not pollute ! ! ! ! ! !

Tip#3) Try to use less gas (cars )

Tip#4) Use less paper! ! / Use both sides of paper

My favorite T.V show is Icarly. I like that show because it is very funny. The main characters from Icarly are Same, Carly, Freddie and Spencer. Spencer is Carly’s big brother and he loves to make sculpters. Carly and Sam are best friends, and they have their own blog show. Carly is a sweet, girly girl, and Sam is rough, tough, funny and she doesn’t really like Freddie. Freddie , is their tech producer. He helps them, for the show, he’s the one who makes all the effects. Freddie is sort of like a nerd as Sam would say it , he doesn’t really like Sam, because she always calls him names and insults him. I have watched every episode, and when it’s a new one no one will take the remote away from me!! Do you know about Icarly?

They made movies too, like Ifight and Trip to Japan. Icarly is one of my favorite show. I like it because the characters express themselves really good and I like it how they do full of random and funny stuff. In that show, my  favorite character is Spencer. I like Spencer because he is  creative, a good sculpter and he is very funny.

Before I start did you know that there is a movie about this story?

The book Spiderwick is more of a comedy, adventurous book. The main characters are Simon, Jared and Mallory. Simon is a very intelligent boy and he always listens to the rules, he mostly fights/argues with his brother Jared.  Jared is a little of the opposite of his  brother. He is smart and very adventurous. Then there’s the sister Mallory. Mallory, is the oldest, she takes fencing lessons and she is very strict with her brothers when they do something wrong, mostly Jared.

The story is about goblins, and those goblins want to get in the house to get a special book so their great-great uncle put salt all around his house, which the goblins cannot pass through, that’s because it burns them if it touches their skin. For them it is also like a  glass. Mallory, Jared and Simon now live in that house, and their great-great uncle Arthur Spiderwick, left all his stuff there, and he left “the book” that he wrote. This book is about goblins and fairies, which Jared believes that the book is true, but Mallory and Simon don’t at first. The goblins want the book because in that book there is a lot of magical spells that they can use.

When I bite inside an empanada it  is very crunchy, hot, and the melted cheese is UNBELIEVABLE!  Mmmmmmm.

I do these cheese empanadas with my mom from scratch. We make them together. This recipe really comes from Chile. My grandma gave the recipe to my mom. We also make some meat empanadas but I prefer cheese empanadas. The whole family makes them. I once went to Chile, and I ate some over there at my mom’s uncle’s house, and they were really good. Last week we ate some at my aunt’s house and we ate some at home in the same week!

We mostly eat them for lunch, snack, and dinner and we  mostly eat them in in winter because they are hot.  For me I would eat them all the time!   I can`t really say who makes the best because they are all so good!

Cheese Empanadas

Did you know that Gorillas, Orangutans and    Chimpanzees are all an the same part of the tree of life as humans.

And did you know that Chimpanzees are our closest realatives!

Before reading this story, Ghost Train, I thought that this story was about a train, of course. But I was also wondering about “Ghost Train”. I thought it was about ghosts or spirits until I read this story. I was also wondering why Paul Yee, put a little girl painting, with only one arm.

That little girl is called Choon-Yi. I also read that she loves painting peoples faces for fee. She only had one arm which horrified her mother, but her dad loved her, (not saying that her mom did not love her) and wanted her to have a beautiful life. Later in the book, Choon-Yi ‘s  father moved to North America, to go build railroads for trains. Now I know why it is called Ghost “Train” because of the railroad.

Later in the story, Choon-Yi, goes to North America and figures out that her dad died.  She is really sad. Her dad is in her dream and tells her that she has to draw the firecar. She draws the firecar and drives it. Then she puts her drawing on the tracks and then the firecar comes to life!!.

She sees these kind of spirits that died too for the same reason.  She sees her dad (spirit) and he tells her she did good. Choon-Yi  leaves home after that.

This book makes me think of the story Parvanna a little. I think that because Parvanna , lost her father too, but not for the same reason.  Parvanna lost her dad because of the Talibans, and Choon-Yi lost her father, by building tracks. But Parvanna’s  dad did not die.

Wild Animal Poll / Ashley

If I were an animal I would most like to be a monkey.

I would like to be a monkey because, first it’s my favorite animal. I don’t want to be any kind of monkey, If I could be a monkey it would be a chimpanzee. I like the chimpanzee because it is cute, I like where it lives, and it is so adventurous.

I would love to be monkey because of where it lives, in the jungle, and I love jungles and forests etc. I love the sound of the jungle. I love animals not just the monkey.
